Hung‑Yut Chen started dancing Tango in San Francisco. His primary teachers are Julian Miller Ramil and Carmen Rozestraten. In 2002, he and Andrea Fuchilieri won First Prize at the USA Tango Contest.

Hung‑Yut was the leader of a choreography group which had performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. His original group choreographies include La Viruta (2003) and Severina (2004).

Hung‑Yut has been teaching and DJing regularly in San Francisco since 2003. He has also given workshops in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Currently he
is giving classes at Barrio Tango.

Hung‑Yut's teachings focus on a deep connection between the partners and with the music. He offers a solid understanding of leading and following technique, and a good eye for details of body mechanics. He encourages his students to listen to the music, to their partners, and to themselves in order to find their own expression in tango.
